Japan's health care system is analyzed with a focus on the iron triangle of costs, access, and quality. Special analysis is made of Japan's pricing and insurance regulations as well as factors affecting quality outcomes throughout the nation. A critical analysis is made of the system with recommendations for reform that would result in reduced utilization, reduced costs, and a greater focus on preventative medicine. Strengths of the Japanese system are noted as opportunities for reform within the health care system of the United States. |
