Most research on social network application (SNA) has concentrated on positive aspects of such applications. Few studies have examined the negative impacts of social network applications. This study investigates the impact of negative emotions, desire for revenge, and retaliatory actions created by social network applications utilizing Stimulus-Organism- Response Framework Theory and social capital framework. We propose that social capital can have a significant impact on creating negative emotions for the users of social network applications. The results of our research using structural equation modeling and correlation analyses set forth strategies that can assist the web site operators addressing the negative impact of social network applications. . |
